Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced RN in Post-Anesthesia Care to provide high-acuity patient care after surgery. You will monitor airway, vital signs and pain, and respond rapidly to emergencies in a fast-paced unit.

The role requires a BSN (preferred) and at least 2 years in PACU or similar critical care, with DC RN licensure, CPR, and PALS. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to evidence-based practice and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in DC (Required).
• 2 years PACU or related critical care experience (Required).
• Strong airway management and knowledge of anesthetic agents.
• CPR and PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patient’s airway postoperatively and monitor vitals.
• Perform IPPV as needed and manage analgesia post-surgery.
• Monitor cardiopulmonary function and oxygen saturation.
• Respond promptly to emergence delirium and other complications.
• Maintain safety and document care with high standards.
