Job summary

Children's National Medical Center seeks an experienced RN for the Operating Room with responsibilities in post-anesthesia care. You will evaluate airway status postoperatively, perform IPPV, monitor cardiopulmonary function, and respond to emergence delirium while coordinating with the care team.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN, has 2 years PACU or similar critical care experience, is licensed as an RN in DC, and maintains CPR and PALS certification; CPEN/CPAN are preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN from an approved school of nursing (preferred).
• 2 years PACU or equivalent critical care experience required.
• Active RN license in DC; CPR and PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage airway postoperatively, including breakthrough laryngospasms.
• Perform manual IPPV when needed.
• Monitor cardiopulmonary function and oxygen saturation.
• Provide prompt care to minimize emergence delirium.
• Assess and treat postoperative pain with appropriate intervention.
• Manage epidural/local anesthetics and nerve blocks.
• Ensure safe patient care with interdisciplinary collaboration.
