Job summary

Children's National Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Washington, DC. The role requires an RN with strong airway management skills and 2 years PACU experience or equivalent critical care experience.

A BSN is preferred, with licenses including DC RN, CPR, and PALS. Licensed nurses will participate in evidence-based practice, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to pediatric and other patients

Qualifications

  • BSN from an approved school of nursing (Preferred).
  • 2 years PACU experience required or related clinical nursing experience in a comparable setting.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patient's airway postoperatively.
  • Perform IPPV as needed.
  • Monitor cardiopulmonary function and oxygen saturation.
  • Provide timely pain management after surgery.
  • Manage epidural and neuraxial anesthesia administration.
  • Support Magnet re-designation through leadership and education.
  • Maintain regulatory license and participate in ongoing professional development.
