Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks an Orthopaedic Technologist to assist surgeons and staff in applying and removing casts and splints. The role supports inventory, order processing, and ensures aseptic technique while maintaining high-quality patient care in the outpatient setting.

Most work occurs at Lincoln Park, with potential travel to satellite locations as needed. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, BLS certification, and 2+ years in a hospital cast unit

Qualifications

• A high school education is required.
• Two years of college or technical school preferred.
• Certification by the National Board of Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• A minimum of two years of experience in a hospital splint or cast room or in an Orthopedic Physician’s office is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Applies and assists in the application and removal of body casts.
• Performs dressing changes, removal of sutures, staples, Steinman pins and K‑Wires using proper aseptic technique.
• Order supplies and equipment from storeroom and outside vendors.
• Keep the supplies and equipment in an organized fashion and maintains appropriate back up of supplies according to Division’s needs.
• Maintains an accurate inventory and appropriate par levels of clinic supplies and equipment.
• Processes special orthopaedic apparatus orders for patients from all units from outside vendors.
• To review and make recommendations to the clinical director regarding new products.
• To introduce and evaluate new products in accordance with Hospital policy.
