Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks an Orthopaedic Technician to assist surgeons, fellows, and nursing staff with casts, splints, and related dressings.

You will order, maintain, and charge orthopaedic equipment, contributing to quality improvement and patient care. The role mainly operates at the Lincoln Park outpatient center with potential travel to satellite locations (Northbrook, Schaumburg, Westchester, New Lenox, downtown).

Qualifications

• High school education required; two years college or technical school preferred.
• Certification by the National Board of Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Two years of hospital splint or cast room or Orthopedic Physician’s office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in applying and removing casts and splints for neonatal to adult patients.
• Order supplies and equipment; maintain organized storeroom and inventory.
• Train residents and students in cast/splint application.
• Support clinic procedures and traction setups as directed by the orthopaedic surgeon.
• Ensure a safe environment and assist with documentation in EMR/records.
