Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks an Occupational Therapist to support students in a West Hempstead, NY school setting. The role involves evaluating student needs, developing and implementing occupational therapy plans, and collaborating with teachers, families, and other professionals to achieve IEP goals.

You will manage a caseload, maintain documentation, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure optimal student participation in educational activities.

Qualifications

• Must have completed NBCOT-accredited occupational therapy program and fieldwork requirements.
• Must possess State OTR/L licensure in the hiring state.
• One year of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in school system or pediatric setting.
• Must have sensory knowledge.
• Experience working with children with disabilities is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with other disciplines to plan and deliver services.
• Evaluates student’s occupational performance through various assessments and observations.
• Writes comprehensive reports to guide intervention and program development.
• Develops intervention plans based on evaluation results.
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to develop IEP goals.
• Teaches and collaborates with staff, families, and students to improve occupational performance.
• Maintains records and documentation.
• Maintains treatment areas and daily schedules.
• Develops and maintains a daily schedule including classrooms and activities.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
