Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital seeks a registered nurse to provide nursing care and staff guidance for clinical issues at our Primary Care site. You will work under physicians, supervise and mentor staff, and support precepting new employees while maintaining high-quality pediatric care.

The role emphasizes collaboration, patient assessment, discharge planning, and family advocacy, with a focus on safe, compassionate care across pediatric ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

• BSN required; degree within 5 years if not.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Valid Ohio RN license (MSL); MSL within 90 days for telehealth outside Ohio.
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.
• No formal supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the provider staff and actively promotes efficient operation and quality care, and legendary customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach.
• Precepts new employees and acts as a mentor to the clinical staff.
• Provides patient assessment as required.
• Participates in the development education for all staff members for clinically related issues.
• Assesses clinical competency and participates in the evaluation process of the clinical staff, both at 90 days and annual evaluations.
• Works with patients and families as an advocate for health maintenance of children and promotes a positive public image.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served.
• Provides consultations and requests consults as directed and assists with discharge planning.
