Job summary

Ascension's Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis is seeking a pediatric critical care physician to join a high-acuity PICU/CVICU team. This full-time role involves night shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule with backup shifts, providing leadership in critically ill pediatric care.

Eligible for Indiana medical licensure and DEA registration, you will work with a team of physicians and APPs, delivering complex care and teaching through a structured orientation.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO required or valid medical license
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care preferred/required
  • Advanced Life Support preferred (AHA/ARC)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-acuity pediatric care in PICU and CVICU
  • Rounding with Intensivist team; collaborate across disciplines
  • Perform intubations, line placements, chest tube management as needed
  • Manage mechanical ventilation and sedation protocols to optimize outcomes

  • Deliver high-acuity care by managing and rounding on complex patients within the PICU and CVICU, serving as a vital clinical partner to the Intensivist team.
  • Perform life-saving interventions and advanced procedures- including intubations, line placements, and chest tube management to stabilize and support our most vulnerable pediatric patients.
  • Optimize patient outcomes through the expert management of mechanical ventilation, pharmacological therapies, and conscious sedation protocols.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to execute comprehensive care plans, ensuring every child receives a seamless and compassionate transition from critical illness to recovery.
  • Master advanced clinical skills through a dedicated three-month structured orientation, featuring immersive skills labs and OR-based procedural training designed to elevate your practice.

  • 14 bed PICU / 8 bed CVICU
  • Level 1 Trauma Center, Regional ECMO Center for neonates, children and teenagers

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
