Responsibilities

In early 2025 we transitioned to a brand new state‑of‑the‑art Women’s and Children’s tower featuring 109 private NICU rooms on Ascension St. Vincent’s main campus. Neonatologists cover a 16‑bed Level III NICU at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital and support NNPs covering a nearby regional hospital Level II nursery via telehealth.

NICUs admit over 1,000 newborns each year and hospitals average 5,000 deliveries annually, with a high proportion of high‑risk deliveries and referrals from our maternal‑fetal OB providers. NICUs are supported by a full range of pediatric subspecialties and surgeons.

• Clinical service for all neonates admitted to the Level IV and III neonatal intensive care units.
• Primary day‑time attending coverage in NICU at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Ascension St. Vincent Carmel.
• In‑house night call at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Ascension St. Vincent Carmel.
• Oversight of pediatric residents and mid‑level providers including NNP, PA and PNP.
• Attendance of high‑risk delivery service and consultation with high‑risk mothers on the obstetric service.
• Multiple opportunities for work in quality improvement and involvement in Vermont Oxford Network.
• Participation in teaching curricula for medical students, pediatric residents, and advanced practice providers (NNPs and PAs).
• Faculty appointments within the IU School of Medicine and/or Marian University School of Osteopathic Medicine are available.

Requirements

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross acceptable).
• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Optometry (OD), or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.
