Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Pediatric Critical Care physician for an employed inpatient role at Ascension St. Alexius Women and Children's Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL.

The position offers a PRN schedule with high-acuity pediatric care in a Level III NICU/PICU and a strong referral network within a large health system. Experience with board certification/eligibility in Pediatric Critical Care and IL licensure is required or obtained prior to hire.

Qualifications

• MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation required prior to hire.
• Advanced Life Support preferred (AHA or ARC)

Responsibilities

• Provide care in a busy inpatient Pediatric Critical Care setting.
• Participate in 24-hour shifts with 8 hours in-house.
• Deliver 24/7 Pediatric Intensivist service and support in NICU/PICU
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage high-acuity pediatric patients.

• 16 Pediatric beds
• 30 Pediatric Nursery beds
• 24/7 Neonatology Service
• NICU 30 beds with 12 swing beds
• Pediatric Hospitalist support
• Pediatric ER
• Access to several Pediatric sub‑specialists
• Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Critical Care
• Eligible for state medical license and DEA/Controlled Substance registration

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
