Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support RNs in providing patient care on a hospital unit. Responsibilities include basic daily care, vitals, documentation in EMR, and patient transfers while maintaining safety and infection control.

The role requires a Nurse Aide credential, a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification within 45 days of hire. On-site position with opportunity to contribute to patient well-being.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HSED required.
• Nurse Aide certification in good standing.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and ambulation.
• Measures and documents vitals and I&O in the EMR; communicates observations to RN.
• Performs purposeful rounding and informs RN of patient/family needs.
• Participates in admission/transfer/discharge under RN supervision.
• Collects specimens and supports accurate labeling and documentation.
• Runs errands and maintains stock for nursing area; cleans equipment.
• Assists with patient positioning, transfers and nutrition support as directed.
• Maintains skin integrity and uses TED hose and SCDs as required.
• Follows infection prevention policies and uses PPE; age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development for patient age groups.
