Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a dedicated registered nurse for a full-time position on the Medical/Surgical unit. You will provide direct professional nursing care across the episode of service, following standards of practice, CCMC policies, and state/federal regulations.

Responsibilities include clinical practice, leadership in unit activities, accurate documentation, and educating patients and families. CT RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS timing requirements apply.

Qualifications

• ASN required upon hire; BSN preferred within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience on Medical/Surgical unit; PACU and/or pediatric experience preferred.
• Endoscopy Nurse requires knowledge of surgical specialties relative to procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Practice- On a daily basis, demonstrates clinical expertise and uses the nursing process to provide safe, appropriate patient care.
• Population Specific- Demonstrates knowledge of the differences and needs of patients across neonate through adolescence; applies cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
• Unit Leadership- Delegates duties and contributes to leadership of the unit as Resource Nurse or through preceptor/mentor activities.
• Documentation/Communication- Completes documentation timely and communicates information to the health care team.
• Patient/Family Partnership & Education- Partners with child and family; educates patients and families regarding care.
• CCMC Standards- Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization.
