Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Office of Academic Affairs and Career Development is seeking a part-time Patient Care Assistant to support direct patient care under RN supervision in Location A. 0.3 FTE (12 hours/week) on Day shift.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, crisis de-escalation, patient transport, and documentation in the patient record. Collaborates with care teams to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with clinical rotation from ACEN/CCNE/NLN CNEA approved institution.
• Ohio STNA or CNA registration, or Ohio/National EMS Registry, or 1 year patient care experience, or completion of the organization's Patient Care Assistant training program after hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan of Care - Provide approved care of assigned patients and assist in implementation of interventions under supervision of RN. Supervise and assist patients with activities of daily living. Supervise developmentally appropriate activities. Offers assistance to co-workers after completion of own duties. Use crisis control techniques and assist in de-escalation of patients and visitors. Assist with patient transport as requested. May assist with 1 on 1 patient observation as needed.
• Communication - Demonstrates Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors in interactions with patients, families, visitors and co-workers; report status or changes in patient condition; document timely in medical record; seek guidance as needed; discuss concerns with Director or designee.
• Environment - Ensure areas are organized and safe; comply with infection control; adhere to safety procedures for children's ages and development.
• Administrative Support - Respond to alarms; answer the telephone per etiquette; assemble charts, order supplies, stock clerical items; assist in orientation/training of new employees.

Education
