Job summary

Shriners Children’s Boston is seeking a part-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our nationally recognized Burn Program, blending inpatient and outpatient care. You will work with Burn Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and MGB teams to care for infants through young adults, across burn recovery and reconstructive needs.

Qualifications

• MSN or DNP from an accredited NP program.
• 1 year of advanced practice experience preferred; exceptional new graduates considered if burn care experience.
• Experience in pediatric burn care, surgery, critical care, emergency medicine, wound care, plastic surgery or related pediatrics.
• Board certification in pediatric or family NP (CPNP-AC/CPNP-PC or FNP).
• Current RN and APRN license; eligibility for active DEA.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers; PALS may be required.
• Credentialing and privileging by medical staff; strong documentation.
• Clinical expertise in pediatric assessment and care management; teamwork.
• Familiarity with pediatric specialty conditions and post-surgical care.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, family-centered care; EHR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient care to pediatric burn patients across recovery and rehab.
• Conduct assessments, develop differential diagnoses, and plan treatments.
• Manage inpatient unit care, including ICU-level cases, with PICU attendings.
• Collaborate with burn/plastic surgeons and multidisciplinary team.
• Perform pre-op evaluations, post-op management, discharge planning, follow-up.
• Manage outpatient clinic visits for 15+ patients daily (birth to 21 years).
• Assess and manage acute burns, wounds, skin conditions, scars and deformities.
• Educate patients and families on wound care, recovery, and plans.
• Coordinate care across inpatient/outpatient/surgical/rehabilitation settings.
• Perform procedures: IV placement, phlebotomy, dressings, wound care.
• Monitor healing, adjust plans; develop individualized care plans.
• Facilitate communication among families, physicians, and teams.
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation per standards.
