Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician II to support anesthesia providers in pediatric surgical care. You will set up and maintain monitoring equipment, stock carts, and assist in preparing operating rooms and off-site locations.

This role emphasizes safety, integrity of equipment, and cost-conscious use of supplies. The position requires 3 years of anesthesia tech experience, a high school diploma or GED, and BLS at hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of approved anesthesia technician curriculum or CNH Anesthesia Technician curriculum preferred.
• 3 years Anesthesia Technician experience required.
• 1 year Pediatrics, Trauma and Cardiac experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand the workplace language.
• Collaborate with the Anesthesia team in developing a plan of care for each patient.
• Assist in setup of anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment functions before use.
• Understanding sterilization verification and sterile packaging integrity.
• Acts as a clinical resource to support peers and promotes cost-effective supply use.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment and supplies.
• Prepares operating rooms and off-site locations, sets up and calibrates monitoring devices.
• Tracks location of specialized equipment and ensures availability after use.
• Consults schedule to determine equipment needs and troubleshoots as needed.
• Assists anesthesiologist with intubation, extubation, and arterial cannulation; supports airway management.
• Assembles, cleans, and stocks anesthesia equipment; troubleshoots machines and monitors.
• Ensures aseptic technique per standards for all supplies and equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of anesthesia work areas and stock.
• Oversees safety, maintenance, and documentation of equipment; adheres to infection control.
