Job summary

Children's National Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Ambulatory Nursing team in Fredericksburg, VA. Under RN supervision, you will help provide basic nursing care, monitor patient conditions, and support patient flow in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, with 1 year of healthcare experience in pediatrics preferred. Certification as CNA/EMT/CPCT and BLS are required for this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year in a healthcare setting, pediatrics preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or CPCT and Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Technician performs basic nursing care activities under the direction of the RN.
• Set up monitors and alarms and perform vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference.
• Assist with daily living activities and nutrition, including tube feeding and tray management.
• Assist with patient flow, room preparation for discharge/admission, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Document on nursing databases and report changes to the charge nurse in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with the RN and team, respecting patient and family needs and maintaining professional teamwork.
