Job summary

Southland Industries in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a seasoned engineer to lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on design/build and rehab projects. This role provides ongoing technical guidance and resolves engineering issues as needed.

The position requires complex calculations for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, plus mentoring junior staff and developing design standards. Strong communication and CAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering design or related field.
• Strong knowledge of systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, or other systems.
• Perform calculations for projects (loads, equipment sizing, friction/hydraulic calculations).
• Develop standards, methods, processes for reviewing and inspecting designs.
• Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers; mentor and guide on designs and issues.
• Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.
