Job summary

Southland Industries in Fort Worth, Texas, seeks a design-focused engineer to provide conceptual design for HVAC, plumbing or other systems, and to perform calculations, drawings and specifications for specific projects. You will assist higher-level engineers, read plans, and develop basic calculations such as heating/cooling loads and equipment sizing.

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE license preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
• Ability to read basic mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assists higher-level engineers in design tasks.
• Performs basic calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems.
• Performs basic calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.
