Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a licensed mechanical engineer to lead and engineer projects, from new design/build to rehabilitations, ensuring systems meet specifications. You will provide technical guidance, review complex calculations, and mentor junior engineers on designs and problem solving.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s in engineering, at least five years of experience, and strong knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and system operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing).
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with CAD drawings, Blueprints, Submittals.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems.
• Calculations for heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss, hydraulic calculations.
• Develops standards and procedures for reviewing designs.
• Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Directs workflow of less-experienced engineers and mentors them.
