Job summary

Lerch Bates in Greenbelt, MD is seeking a Building Enclosure Consultant to support the assessment, investigation, rehabilitation, restoration, and modernization of existing building enclosure systems. You will evaluate roofing, waterproofing, facades, and exterior walls, identify deterioration, and develop practical repair strategies to improve durability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 5+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, structural engineering, building science, forensic investigations, restoration consulting, rehabilitation design, or existing building consulting.
• Experience conducting building condition assessments, investigations, and repair design for existing buildings.
• Understanding of roofing, waterproofing, facade, fenestration, and exterior wall systems.
• Strong technical writing and report preparation experience.

Responsibilities

• Building Enclosure Assessment & Investigation: Investigate building envelope issues and conduct condition assessments to identify deterioration and repair needs.
• Evaluation & Restoration Design: Prepare condition assessment reports and develop restoration and repair solutions for building enclosure systems.
• Design Coordination & Technical Review: Coordinate repair drawings, specifications, and documentation; review drawings to ensure design intent.
• Project Management & Construction Administration: Conduct site observations, manage scope/budgets/deliverables, and provide technical guidance during construction.
• Client Relationships & Leadership: Serve as trusted advisor, present findings, and mentor junior staff.
