Job summary

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital in Clermont, FL is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Multi-Systems PCU. This full-time daytime role requires Florida RN licensure, BLS, and unit-specific certifications as applicable, with 1 year of RN experience preferred.

You will deliver high-level nursing care, monitor critical equipment, and collaborate with the care team to develop individualized care plans while ensuring patient safety and family advocacy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC); current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas.
• 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required; Stepdown, PCU, or IMCU experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high-intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance.
• Utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Identify and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, etc.
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
• Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ condition, recognize, identify, and interpret serious situations and call Physician or take pre-planned emergency measures when Physician is not immediately available.
• Assess patient needs and develop/revise an individualized plan of care based on patient responses; evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
• Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
• Function as a patient and family advocate.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit/department.
• Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.
• Serve as a role model for staff and support hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles, assess patient data reflecting status, interpret necessary information relative to age-specific needs.
• Coordinate care and delegate to appropriate team members for patient groups.
• Document patient care consistently meeting required and regulatory standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of unit equipment as defined by unit/department-specific requisite skills.
• Prioritize patient care continually per Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
• Practice effective problem identification and resolution.
• Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members per patient needs and team member capabilities.
• Communicate appropriate information about patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.
• Demonstrate caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patient rights.
• Collaborate with education department and nursing leadership to transition and support new members and/or students.
• Maintain punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
• Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
