Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH, is seeking a Patient Care Tech to provide direct patient care under RN guidance during full-time night shifts (6:00 pm–6:30 am). The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, STNA/HCA certs or a nursing student with clinical exposure, and BLS certification.

Duties include observing patients, assisting with daily tasks, taking vital signs, and supporting the care team.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED; STNA/HCA certs or a nursing student with clinical exposure; or 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• BLS certification by American Heart Association is required or preferred.
• Experience providing direct patient care and basic computer literacy are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide general patient care under RN supervision, including bathing, hygiene, and feeding.
• Record vital signs and assist with activities of daily living as directed.
• Observe patient responses and report deviations to the RN/physician.
• Assist with transfers, positioning, ROM, and basic therapy tasks as needed.
• Perform venipunctures, collect specimens, and assist with bedside lab tests as required.
• Apply oxygen therapy and assist with ECGs and wound care under supervision.
• Maintain aseptic technique and accurate charting, and support discharge planning.
