Dept Behavioral Health/Develop, located in the Comm Ctr for Child & Adoles, seeks a Direct Service Associate III for full-time work. You will build therapeutic relationships and provide trust-based, strength-centered care in line with each child’s treatment plan, using the least restrictive methods.

The role requires leading crisis interventions, mentoring staff, and ensuring accurate documentation while upholding rights and dignity of children and families.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of center policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and agency regulations.
  • Understanding child/adolescent development and needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to mentor staff in planning activities, data, reports, treatment plans, and communication with children/adolescents with various needs.
  • Willingness to lead, intervene verbally and physically in crisis situations to mentor others.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Builds therapeutic relationships and provides care aligned with each child’s treatment plan using least restrictive interventions.
  • Provides direct care to psychiatric minor patients; considered essential and may report during emergencies.
  • Reports observations and maintains accurate documentation and records.

Hiring Range: Starting Pay from $38,630 - $53,309 per year

Job Duties

Builds therapeutic relationships and provides trust-building, strength based individualized care that is consistent with the child’s treatment plan, using the least restrictive interventions necessary while upholding the rights and dignity of children and their families at all times. Provides direct care to psychiatric minor patients, and as such this position is considered “essential” and is expected to report as scheduled during emergency events.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable knowledge of Center policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and agency regulations related to supervision of direct care staff, of the characteristics of the assigned population of children, and of all therapeutic programs delivered in the unit.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child/adolescent development and needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated successful mastery of and ability to mentor other staff in areas including planning activities, behavioral data, writing reports, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans, interacting/communicating successfully with children/adolescents with a variety of physical and mental disabilities, participating in therapeutic activities, and providing assistance with activities of daily living and hygiene.
  • Willingness to play a lead role and ability to interact and intervene verbally and physically in crisis situations, in order to property mentor other staff.
  • Successful completion of TOVA, Ukeru, DEFUSE, and CPR. Ability to work overtime if needed. Ability to observe and describe observations orally and in writing.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy skills.
