HCA Florida Highlands Hospital in Sebring, FL is seeking a PBX Operator PRN to manage hospital telecommunications, answer and route calls, and respond rapidly to emergencies. You will monitor alarms, handle overhead paging, and assist at the information desk for visitors and staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and about 1 year of switchboard/pbx experience, preferably in healthcare. Excellent voice quality, basic computer literacy, and composure under pressure are essential.

Job Summary and Core Duties

• Call Handling: Promptly answers, screens, and transfers incoming, outgoing, and long-distance calls for patients, staff, and physicians

• Emergency Response: Responds immediately to code phones, wall panels, and security alarms, which take priority over all calls except fire alarms

• Alarm Monitoring: Monitors fire panels, security radios, and specialized hospital alerts, notifying the fire department and proper response teams

• Overhead Paging: Operates the public address and paging systems for emergency announcements, staff alerts, and physician calls

• Information Desk Support: Staffs the lobby desk or telecommunications office, greeting visitors and providing facility directions

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED.

• Experience: Requires 1 year of switchboard or PBX operator experience, ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting.

• Skills: Clear, professional speaking voice compatible with electronic transmission, basic computer literacy, and calmness during high-stress emergency situations
