Innova Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist for a 6-month contract in Davidson, NC. You’ll ensure tax compliance across jurisdictions, using PeopleSoft and ADP Smart Compliance to process, report, and file payroll tax activities.

You will analyze tax discrepancies, maintain regulatory knowledge, and support continuous improvements in payroll tax operations while collaborating with payroll and tax professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Experience in Payroll Tax or Payroll Operations.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws.
• Hands-on with payroll platforms such as PeopleSoft and ADP Smart Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage state tax portals for income tax and unemployment tax activities.
• Digitize payroll tax correspondence and upload notifications into ADP Smart Compliance.
• Perform weekly payroll tax error analysis and resolve discrepancies in PeopleSoft.
• Review payroll tax audit reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor open cases in ADP Smart Compliance and drive timely resolutions.
• Investigate and resolve Locality Fall-Off reports in PeopleSoft.
• Assist with Illinois payroll tax filings and related compliance activities.
• Support payroll tax projects and process improvements as needed.

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Payroll Tax Specialist Position type: Full-time, Contract Duration: 6 months, possible extension Location: Davidson, NC 28036

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Tax Contractor to join our payroll operations team and play a key role in maintaining tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In this position, you’ll collaborate closely with payroll and tax professionals, leveraging your expertise to ensure accurate payroll tax processing, reporting, and filing while supporting critical business operations.

What You'll Do

• Managing access and maintenance of state tax portals for State Income Tax and Unemployment Tax activities.
• Retrieving, reviewing, and digitizing payroll tax correspondence while monitoring team mailboxes and uploading notifications into ADP Smart Compliance.
• Performing weekly payroll tax error analysis and resolving discrepancies within PeopleSoft.
• Reviewing and reconciling daily payroll tax audit reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitoring open cases in ADP Smart Compliance and driving timely resolution of outstanding issues.
• Investigating and resolving Locality Fall-Off reports within PeopleSoft.
• Supporting monthly Illinois payroll tax filing uploads and related compliance activities.
• Assisting with payroll tax projects, process improvements, and additional payroll-related initiatives as business needs arise.

What You Bring

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in Payroll Tax, Payroll Operations, or a similar role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as PeopleSoft, ADP smart Compliance, or comparable systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of professionalism with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with automated payroll processing and tax compliance systems.

Pay Range*: $22.00 - $26.96 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
