Payroll Supervisor
North Seattle | Onsite
Salary: $83,200 – $93,600 DOE
Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Join a stable and well-established organization in North Seattle where your payroll expertise will directly support employees across the entire organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional who enjoys owning the full payroll function, working independently, and serving as the organization’s subject matter expert for payroll operations.

As the sole payroll professional, you will oversee all aspects of the payroll process from start to finish while partnering closely with the accounting and finance team. Beyond payroll administration, you’ll contribute to accounting operations, budgeting support, compliance initiatives, and process improvements. The organization values accuracy, accountability, and exceptional internal customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the organization’s sole payroll lead, managing the full-cycle biweekly payroll process for all employees.
  • Review and process timesheets, direct deposits, manual checks, deductions, garnishments, and benefit‑related payroll transactions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare payroll tax filings, W-2 reporting, payroll reconciliations, and audit support documentation.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Administer and maintain payroll system configurations, including leave plans, earnings codes, pay schedules, and reporting structures.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, position control, payroll forecasting, and labor cost analysis.
  • Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and complex payroll issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure payroll best practices are consistently followed.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated expertise in full-cycle payroll processing, payroll taxes, reconciliations, and accounting principles.
  • Experience independently managing payroll operations or serving as the primary payroll contact strongly preferred.
  • Union payroll experience highly desirable, including interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, union dues administration, contract pay provisions, and related compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Advanced attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems, accounting software, and Excel.
Why You’ll Be Successful

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys autonomy, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to be the trusted payroll expert within the organization. If you’re looking for a stable opportunity where you can lead the payroll function, work alongside a collaborative finance team, and make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.
