Our client is seeking a Payroll Manager to serve as the sole payroll authority across multiple affiliated entities. This is a high-impact, highly autonomous role responsible for end-to-end payroll operations, compliance, and system administration, with exposure to HR, finance, and executive leadership.
This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of a complex, multi-entity payroll function while also supporting broader enterprise responsibilities across benefits, retirement plans, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle payroll processing across multiple entities with a focus on accuracy and compliance
- Manage payroll system administration (ADP Workforce Now or similar), including configurations, reporting, and data integrity
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and multi-state payroll regulations
- Reconcile payroll data and support general ledger reporting across all entities
- Administer retirement plans and deferred compensation programs in coordination with third-party providers
- Oversee payroll-related benefits deductions and vendor relationships
- Support year-end processes including tax filings, reconciliations, and system updates
- Provide oversight of international payroll activity managed by in-country teams
- Serve as a key advisor to HR and leadership on payroll compliance, regulatory updates, and process improvements
- Partner with external vendors to resolve issues and strengthen payroll operations
- Support audits, employment verifications, and related payroll requests
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiency
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience in complex, multi-entity environments
- Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now or comparable payroll systems
- Deep knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and multi-state payroll administration
- Experience with 401(k) administration and third-party coordination
- Exposure to nonqualified deferred compensation plans preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field preferred
- CPP or FPC certification preferredStrong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational capability
- Ability to work independently with confidentiality and accountability
- Strong communication skills across all levels of an organization
