Payroll Specialist with ADP Experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a growing team supporting a diverse portfolio of clients. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with advanced technical expertise who enjoys solving complex payroll and compliance challenges while mentoring others. The Payroll Specialist will oversee sophisticated payroll processing, provide guidance on regulatory matters, and help drive process improvements to ensure exceptional service and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Process and review complex payrolls across multiple clients and industries with a high level of accuracy
- Manage multi-state payroll processing, garnishments, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and other complex payroll scenarios
- Review payroll completed by junior team members and provide coaching and technical guidance
- Research and resolve payroll tax notices, agency correspondence, and compliance issues
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Serve as a trusted payroll resource for clients by providing guidance on payroll best practices and regulatory requirements
- Handle sensitive payroll inquiries and resolve complex employee payroll issues
- Mentor and train payroll team members while promoting best practices and continuous learning
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen quality controls
- Assist with new client payroll implementations and onboarding activitiesStay current on legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll administration
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional client service and accurate payroll operations
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of progressive payroll processing experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), or currently pursuing certification, preferred
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Experience processing complex, multi-state payrolls using ADP
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, garnishments, levies, and compliance requirements
- Experience mentoring or training payroll professionals is preferred
- Proficiency with ADPand HRIS platforms
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting critical payroll deadlines
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and independent decision-making
