Heritage Building Maintenance is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our central Iowa office. This exempt role processes biweekly payroll via Rippling, manages time reports, garnishments, benefits, and compliance across systems.

• Payroll processing experience required; experience with Rippling or similar HRIS/payroll platform strongly preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a proven track record of accurate, error-free data entry.
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage workload, prioritize deadlines, and deliver results within concise timeframes.
• Strong organization, follow-through, and the flexibility to shift focus as priorities change.
• Proficiency working across multiple platforms and systems simultaneously.
• Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel/spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of payroll law, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements preferred.
• Business-minded approach to cost awareness, efficiency, and process improvement.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR and leadership.
• Spanish language skills are a strong plus.

Responsabilidades

• Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time through the Rippling platform.
• Review, validate, and reconcile time and attendance reports; research and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Enter and maintain employee data (onboarding, scheduling, benefits, terminations) across multiple platforms with zero tolerance for error.
• Administer payroll items including wage garnishments, bonuses, commissions, mileage reimbursements, and other approved payments or deductions.
• Manage benefits-related payroll functions, ensuring accurate deductions and enrollment data.
• Create and maintain tracking spreadsheets for hours, payments, and compliance documentation.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism, discretion, and a service-first mindset.
• Maintain payroll records and support HR recordkeeping functions.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and all applicable federal and state payroll regulations.
• Partner with HR and management to identify and implement process improvements.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
