Job summary

AlphaStaffHCM is seeking a Payroll Specialist to process payroll for client companies across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and high service levels. The role involves coordinating with IT for custom reports, handling payroll codes, locations, and GL setups, and delivering timely responses to client inquiries.

Office-based position with potential for remote components; strong Excel skills and experience with Prism PEO Software and Salesforce are preferred; FPC CPS certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, HR, or related field.
• 3–5 years of payroll, HRIS, or PEO experience.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to changing processes.
• Strong communication and follow-up skills with cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, filters, pivot tables).
• FPC or CPS certification preferred.
• Attention to detail and customer service excellence.
• Strong problem solving and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Processes and reviews initialized payrolls, identifying and correcting errors to ensure accuracy.
• Provides pre-posting payroll reports to clients for review and approval.
• Collaborates with IT to specify client reports and QA test accuracy.
• Manages pay codes, job positions, pay locations, PTO adjustments, GL setups, and other ongoing client maintenance needs.
• Responds to payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Delivers high-level customer service and supports system usage training.
