Job summary

Unity Health Care in Washington, DC, is seeking a Payroll Coordinator/Specialist to oversee timely payroll operations under the Payroll Manager. You will monitor time records, process bi-weekly payroll, perform calculations and reconciliations, and maintain secure payroll files with strict confidentiality.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in payroll, strong numerical and organizational skills, and experience with HRIS/ADP.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field; equivalent education may be considered.
• Minimum of two years of payroll experience.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting and payroll practices.
• Experience with HRIS/payroll software; ADP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor time and attendance and ensure supervisors approve bi-weekly timesheets.
• Review timesheet entries and process time adjustments.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing including terminations, retirements, reclassifications, promotions, and demotions.
• Calculate wages, benefits, retroactive pay, payroll corrections, and other payroll-related adjustments.
• Prepare and process paychecks, cash deposits, wires, and manual checks as needed.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, documentation, and transaction files.
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries and research employee concerns.
• Perform account balance and payroll reconciliations.
• Prepare financial, payroll, and periodic management reports.
• Conduct payroll audits before and after payroll completion and ensure internal controls.
