Job summary

SABG in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support the CFO and accounting team. You will manage the full payroll cycle for approximately 350-400 employees in a government contracting environment, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and federal/state requirements.

The role requires strong timekeeping, tax withholding, benefit deductions, and reporting, with interaction across HR, Contracts, and employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Experience in government contracting or regulated accounting preferred.
• Strong GAAP understanding; FAR/DFARS familiarity a plus.
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as Deltek Costpoint or Unanet is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly full-cycle payroll accurately and on time for 350-400 employees.
• Review timekeeping data, approvals, and inputs before processing.
• Maintain payroll data for new hires, terminations, changes, deductions, and taxes.
• Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and year-end filings.
• Coordinate with HR, Contracts, and employees on payroll-impacting changes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
• Support audits with payroll documentation and responses.
