The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees in a government contracting environment. This individual will leverage Deltek Costpoint to ensure compliance with federal labor standards (FLSA, DCAA, and FAR), internal controls, and company policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and experienced in handling complex payroll operations within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll in Deltek Costpoint, ensuring accuracy of timekeeping, labor charging, and employee deductions.
- Validate labor distribution and ensure payroll cost allocations align with contract, project, and organizational structures.
- Audit timecards and leave balances for compliance with company policy, DCAA, and federal labor regulations.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journal entries for Accounting.
- Manage benefit and deduction integrations, including retirement contributions, insurance premiums, and garnishments.
- Support payroll tax filings and coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, including preparation of reports and reconciliations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Respond to internal and external payroll-related inquiries, providing exceptional service to employees and management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3–6+ years of payroll experience, ideally within a government contracting or professional services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint (required); experience with Time & Expense module a plus.
- Familiarity with FAR, DCAA, and FLSA labor compliance standards.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills; experience with payroll reporting tools or BI dashboards preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
