Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a growing nonprofit. You will process semi-monthly payroll with Paycom, review timesheets, and maintain confidential records while ensuring federal, state, and local compliance in California.

The role requires 3+ years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and knowledge of California wage and hour laws.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience in a small to mid-sized organization.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll; nonprofit experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as Paycom, ADP, or Paycor.
• Strong knowledge of California payroll laws, payroll taxes, and wage and hour compliance.
• Proficient Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule using Paycom.
• Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit withholdings for accuracy.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Audit payroll data and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Process new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and compensation changes.
