At CableCom , as a Payroll Specialist , you’ll assist in compiling of payroll data to prepare weekly checks, maintain employee records, and act as a resource to the field offices to answer common questions.

What you’ll do as a Payroll Specialist

• Processes payroll while adhering to federal and state laws and ensures that employee payroll is processed accurately and timely.
• Assists with payroll accounting, transactions, reporting, stop payments, and other operations.
• Reviews payroll reports and time sheets for correctness before payroll transactions.
• Responds to payroll questions in a timely manner.

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents clearly. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and commissions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
• Have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
• Able to perform the physical tasks required in this position for the entire assigned shift.

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: sitting, keyboard/mouse use, standing, walking (daily)
• Occasionally: lifting (weights up to 40 lbs, rarely) lift & carry (weights of 25lbs, occasionally)

Preferred Qualifications

• Ad-hoc reporting utilizing Ultimate software.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
• A fast paced learner who loves to learn new systems and processes.
• Tech savvy.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Salary Range $25 - $28 per hour
