Payroll Specialist

Duration: 24 months

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic team in one of the largest healthcare organizations in the country. This role involves a blend of hands-on payroll processing, analytical tasks, and a chance to contribute to major system transitions (PeopleSoft to Workday). You’ll be working with a dedicated team to process payroll for approximately 8,000 employees, resolve discrepancies, and contribute to a smooth payroll cycle for a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly in-house payroll for 8,000 employees, handling all aspects from data loads to resolving discrepancies and conducting audits
• Manage multi-state payroll processing (experience with multi-state is a plus)
• Support out-of-cycle payroll processing and advance pay for physicians and practices
• Handle payroll audits and ensure compliance with federal and state laws
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to resolve payroll issues and provide technical support
• Transition payroll processes from PeopleSoft to Workday (experience with large ERP systems is required)
• Assist with tax and garnishment filings and maintain state tax accounts
• Provide excellent customer service to employees, responding to inquiries and processing paycheck issues
• Perform period-end processes, including W-2 audits, and assist with year-end processes

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience (in-house payroll processing, not outsourcing)
• Strong experience with ADP (any version)
• Experience with multi-state payroll processing
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft or any large ERP system; transitioning to Workday
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Prior experience with payroll audits and resolving discrepancies
• Payroll processing in a healthcare or large organization is a plus
