Job summary

Goodwill Northern New England in Gorham, Maine, is seeking a payroll professional to process and manage the agency's payroll accurately and timely. The role includes handling timekeeping, garnishments, pay cards, and payroll inquiries from staff.

The ideal candidate will maintain strict confidentiality, have the ability to pass a background check, and demonstrate proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word. Experience with UKG or similar payroll systems is preferred.

Pay: $19 - $22 D.O.E

Job Summary

• Processes and records the Agency’s payroll timely and accurately. Duties include:
• Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
• Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
• Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
• Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to maintain confidentiality relative to payroll
• Successfully pass a criminal background check the meets agency standards.
• High school diploma or GED
• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word.
• Demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with UKG or similar Payroll Systems

Essential Functions

Communication

• Responds to inquiries from Agency personnel regarding payroll matters.
• Provides procedural instruction regarding payroll and timekeeping.
• Effectively communicates with all internal customers regardless of their areas of responsibility in a courteous and professional manner.
• Maintains strict confidentiality of information generated or gathered.
• Conducts Payroll training for managers.

Knowledge

• Performs duties in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations and Goodwill’s philosophy, policies and procedures.
• Understands proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
• Working knowledge of computerized timekeeping and payroll systems.
• Resolves Payroll problems and exceptions in timely fashion.

Administration

• Enters and processes employee time, payroll adjustments, garnishments and pay cards.
• Processes payroll transactions accurately and timely.
• Maintains Agency payroll information in HRIS database.
• Prepares reporting for employees, managers, vendors and tax agencies when necessary.
• Develops ad hoc reporting as needed.
• Understanding of Goodwill NNE policies.
