Payroll Assistant
The Payroll Assistant will help and assist with the timely processing of weekly payrolls for multiple entities. This role involves entering, maintaining, and processing information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Responsibilities
- Collect, compile, and enter payroll data.
- Manage and maintain payroll records.
- New Hire coordination with HR.
- Audit timekeeping records to ensure compliance.
- Assist with handling payroll‑related projects including year‑end preparations, documentation, employee tax issues, and annual audits, preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, adjustments, and other deductions.
- Assist with issuing, or reissuing, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors, adjustments, final pay, etc.
- Process and manage inquiries and requests related to preparation and distribution of payroll.
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Assist Payroll, Benefits & Insurance Manager with audits by providing records and documentation to auditors as needed.
- Assist with addressing and resolving employee complaints regarding payroll, timekeeping, etc. in a timely manner.
- Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll and expense as requested.
- Work with company database programs to process payroll and verify information.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Accurate and meticulous in data entry.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of administrative experience; payroll processing experience is a plus.
Compensation
Pay: $24 - $28 per hour. This pay range is the competitive compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
