Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Payroll Processing Manager in Raleigh, NC to lead a team responsible for accurate and timely payment of wages for thousands of university staff, faculty, and student workers. The role requires strong knowledge of payroll regulations and collaboration with campus partners.

You will oversee payroll systems, ensure strict internal controls, and drive process improvements while coordinating with central offices. A hybrid work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years payroll leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years supervisory experience may substitute for advanced qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, supervise, and develop payroll specialists by assigning work, establishing performance expectations, providing technical guidance, and managing performance and employee relations matters.
• Monitor service quality and workload, address operational challenges, and support staff in maintaining consistent and timely service delivery.
• Oversee daily payroll processing, resolve routine and complex issues, and review payroll transactions, financial documents, reports, and records for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain current operational documentation, training resources, website content, procedures, and guidance materials.
