Job summary

Self-Help Credit Union in Durham, NC is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a team of payroll administrators responsible for multi-state payroll processing, including compliance with wage and hour laws for over 1000 staff.

You will drive process improvements, oversee year-end payroll activities and serve as a subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules, partnering with HR and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of payroll experience and managing payroll functions.
• Workday experience preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state payroll administration.
• Experience with payroll tax filings and compliance.
• Experience leading payroll system implementations or upgrades.
• Experience with payroll reporting, analytics, and data reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Payroll Administrators responsible for multi-state payroll processing.
• Provide strategic oversight of payroll operations across regions with compliance to federal, state, and local laws.
• Process statutory reporting and filings including garnishments, taxes, W-2s and ACA.
• Develop and enforce payroll policies, calendars, SLAs, and internal controls.
• Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements (Workday).
• Oversee year-end payroll activities and payroll-related audits.
• Collaborate on HR projects and act as Payroll SME for Workday modules.
