Job summary

Sotera Health Company seeks a Payroll Manager to lead US payroll operations across multi-state environments, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant pay for ~1,700 associates. You will partner with HR, Accounting, and IT to modernize processes, improve controls, and advance payroll technology.

The role requires extensive payroll experience, leadership capability, and strong data analysis skills, with CPP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, HR or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Seven+ years of progressive payroll processing experience in a shared services environment; leadership roles preferred.
• CPP designation preferred; or demonstrate equivalent payroll expertise.
• Advanced Excel and payroll data analysis skills (Pivot, XLOOKUP, high-volume reporting).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing across multi-state environments for salaried and hourly associates.
• Oversee payroll calendars, tax calculations, deductions, and funding requirements; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage payroll tax deposits, filings, and W-2 processing; handle executive payroll components securely.
• Develop and coach the payroll team; partner with HR, Accounting, IT, and business leaders to improve processes.
• Govern payroll systems governance, testing, upgrades, and data quality; drive automation and KPIs.
