Base pay range
$120,000 - $140,000 base + bonus

Oakleaf Partnership is supporting a leading global organisation in their search for an experienced payroll manager to oversee U.S. payroll operations. This is a critical role within the HR function, responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll across multiple states while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and key business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for employees across multiple U.S. states
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll data entry, processing, and distribution
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax, wage, and reporting regulations
- Monitor changes in payroll laws and implement updates to processes as needed
- Manage payroll-related audits and regulatory inquiries
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation
- Collaborate closely with HR and Finance to align payroll data with internal systems and workflows
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams on payroll matters
- Oversee and mentor payroll staff, supporting training and development (team management preferred)
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
About You
- 6+ years of experience in payroll processing, with strong multistate payroll expertise
- Solid understanding of payroll laws, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with major payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, Workday, Paylocity)
- Highly detail‑oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Prior people management experience is a plus
