Job summary

Monroe Community College is seeking a Manager I, Payroll to supervise the payroll office, oversee payroll systems, and ensure accurate compensation reporting to SUNY and government agencies. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Payroll and requires leadership of Payroll Technicians and coordination with compliance teams.

The position emphasizes internal controls, timely tax payments, and collaboration across accounting and administrative services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field with at least 3 years in payroll operations.
• Associate's degree in business or a related field with at least 7 years in payroll operations.
• Experience with payroll regulations in publicly funded environments and union settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Payroll Technicians including performance appraisals and scheduling.
• Balance bi-weekly payroll and related benefits.
• Provide technical payroll task assistance to clerical staff.
• Assist in payroll-related matters during annual audits and with collective bargaining agreements.
• Prepare monthly compensation and benefits analyses for regulatory agencies and management.
