Nextpower, a rapidly growing global energy technology company, is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for the US and international entities. The role combines hands-on processing with process improvement and compliance.

You will audit payroll, manage quarterly and year-end filings, collaborate with vendors and state agencies, and guide the payroll team to ensure accurate, timely compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in payroll.
• Experience with payroll systems/HRIS; at least 2 years in Workday.
• Strong knowledge of US payroll labor laws and payroll tax requirements.
• Some experience with international payroll via payroll vendors.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit payroll for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies before finalization.

Role & Responsibilities

• Review and audit payroll for accuracy and completeness, identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
• Manage internal and external audits relating to payroll
• Manage quarterly and year end payroll tax filings for US and handle compliance requirements
• Work with state agencies to resolve tax discrepancies
• Independently identify and recommend new procedures to streamline payroll operations, controls automation and efficiency.
• Participate in payroll system testing, enhancements.
• Provide guidance and training to payroll administrator and support global payroll activities as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in payroll.
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; at least 2 years in Workday required, other systems a plus.
• Strong knowledge of US payroll labor laws and payroll tax requirements.
• Some experience working with payroll vendors for international payroll preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to details, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement
