Job summary

Met-Con Inc. is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our growing team in New York. You will lead payroll staff, maintain processing systems, and ensure accurate and timely payroll for office and field employees.

Responsibilities include updating payroll for new hires, terminations, rate changes, processing weekly payroll and reimbursements, handling taxes and year-end forms, assisting HR and Accounting, and supporting benefits data and insurance files.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree in accounting or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of payroll experience; leadership experience preferred.
• Strong multi-tasking, time management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Manages and supports payroll staff.
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, 401k, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Processes weekly payroll for office and field employees.
• Provides assistance to Human Resources as needed.
• Process weekly employee expense reimbursements.
• Files payroll taxes weekly, quarterly, and year-end as well as processing W2's.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Provides assistance to the Accounting Department.
• Downloads and uploads data files weekly for health and dental insurance.
• Processes company credit card transactions.

Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 3+ years of related experience. Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
