POSITION OVERVIEW

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of payroll processing across multiple entities within a company portfolio, in an on-site, in-office role. This position will ensure accurate and timely payroll execution while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Manager will collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and other cross-functional teams to align payroll operations with organizational objectives. The successful candidate will lead the processing, auditing, reporting, and continuous improvement of payroll systems and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Manage payroll for a portfolio of companies, including processing payroll, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely payment of taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations for each company within the portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the finance and HR teams of each company within the portfolio, serving as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issues.
  • Provide training and support to the finance and HR teams of each company within the portfolio on payroll-related topics, including tax laws, employment regulations, and payroll processing procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze payroll data for each company within the portfolio to identify potential issues or discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain payroll processing procedures for each company within the portfolio, including documentation and training materials.
  • Manage payroll staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party vendors, including payroll service providers and tax agencies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with a focus on running multiple payrolls for a portfolio of companies.
  • Thorough understanding of payroll processing, tax laws, and employment regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with payroll software, including OSV and Workday, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position directly supervises the Lead Payroll Specialist and Payroll Specialist, offering guidance, managing performance, and supporting their professional growth and development.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
