Job summary

The Arc Montgomery County, in Derwood, MD, seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage accurate payroll processing for all employees, ensuring timely submission of time sheets and compliance with internal controls.

Under the supervision of the Senior Staff Accountant, you will generate payroll summaries, maintain HR/payroll records, reconcile accounts, and support benefits and W-2 administration while safeguarding confidential information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other relevant field with related experience.
• Associate’s degree plus five years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma plus seven years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish procedures to safeguard payroll accuracy and confidentiality.
• Obtain updated personnel information for accurate payroll processing.
• Maintain payroll records and coordinate with contract processor.
• Record payroll summaries in general ledger and generate reports.
• Distribute payroll checks, direct deposits, and W-2s; resolve disputes.
