Job summary

Washington State Patrol's Budget and Fiscal Services division seeks a payroll specialist who will manage payroll processing and employee benefits coordination for agency staff.

You will perform HRMS and PAY1 end-user tasks, guide employees, review payroll documents, and analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with FLSA, IRS, CBAs, and related policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to apply practical accounting principles.
• Ability to process large quantities of fiscal data accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers while working cohesively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform HRMS and PAY1 end-user payroll system activities.
• Provide guidance to agency employees on payroll matters.
• Review and approve payroll documents and forms.
• Analyze payroll results and reports.
• Assist in reviewing labor, payroll and leave data and ensure compliance with department policies and procedures, FLSA, IRS, CBAs, and related rules.
