Job summary

Eastern Washington University is seeking a Fiscal Specialist 2 to oversee payroll-related fiscal operations and analysis. Under supervision, duties include calculating, inputting, and verifying pay for Faculty, Students, and Non-Student hourly employees, handling overpayments, and resolving payroll issues in coordination with departments and external entities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist I and 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college level accounting; or equivalent education/experience.
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Office products, Excel and Word.
• Experience paying attention to detail and working accurately with numbers.
• Demonstrated communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated experience working under tight deadlines and in stressful situations.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the needs of, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Answering main payroll line and handling walk-in traffic; provide answers regarding timesheet process, pay distribution, pay dates, pay amounts, etc.
• Maintain payroll cycle documents and employee files, including archiving and maintenance of terminated employee data base.
• Monitor hourly web timesheet process and provide guidance to approvers and employees; distribute payroll in-box to office personnel.
• Input and verify employee updates for addresses, direct deposits, name changes and pay distribution changes; update SSNs and deductions.
