Budget and Fiscal Services (BFS) is responsible for the management of all agency financial activities including Accounting, Budgeting, Contractual Agreements, Financial Systems, Grants, and Payroll. The division consists of the Budget Section, the Accounting Section, the Financial Systems and Payroll Section, and the Contracting Section.
This position is responsible performs payroll functions and coordinates benefits for agency employees. This position is a primary contributor who ensures the accurate and timely execution of payroll functions and the assignment of employee benefits.
Ournew teammate will be able to:
- Perform Human Resource Management System (HRMS) and Personnel/Payroll System (PAY1) end-user activities.
- Provide guidance to agency employees.
- Review and approve payroll documents and forms.
- Analyze payroll results and reports.
- Assist in the review, analysis and interpretation of labor, payroll and leave report data.
- Initiate necessary actions to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Civil Service Rules, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), Health Care Authority (HCA), Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to apply practical accounting principles.
- Ability to process large quantities of fiscal data accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers while working cohesively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of basic math and keyboarding skills, as required for this position.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly pick up the numerous state laws, collective bargaining agreements, and various state agency policies as they pertain to payroll, leave, and benefit entitlements.
- Must be dependable, discrete, and able to maintain confidential information.
- Must be able to organize personal workspace to minimize the likelihood of an accident or other unsafe incidents.
